How it works
No lightbox, no scale, no reference book. The phone you already have, the coin already in your hand, and enough light to read it by.
Hold the coin flat under whatever light you have. One side is enough; flip it and Buck reads both and still counts it as one coin.
Buck reads the country, the denomination, the year and the mint mark off the metal, then matches them against the index.
You get a range in your own currency, the record it matched, and the reason it is worth that. Then the coin lands in your collection.
The index
Every coin and banknote Buck knows is already in there, sitting in greyscale. Scan one and it turns colour, permanently, with its year, its metal and what it is worth. Nobody fills the whole page.
The numbers
It is easy to make an app that tells everyone their change is treasure. Buck would rather be the one you believe the day it says two dollars.

A circulating euro coin is legal tender at its face, so Buck will never price it below that, no matter what a price guide says.
When the only figure available is for an uncirculated example, the card says so instead of quietly pretending your pocket change is flawless.
If the photo and the record disagree, wrong metal colour or wrong era, Buck drops the match rather than showing you a number it does not believe.

Guides
The questions people arrive with, answered properly: which coins are silver, where the mint mark hides, what a grade really claims, and which dates are worth stopping for.
Dimes, quarters and halves dated 1964 or earlier are 90% silver. Halves from 1965 to 1970 are 40%. Nickels are only silver for three wartime years, and the mint mark tells you which.
